Philadelphia celebrates Tesla's 155. birthday

PHILADELPHIA - For the third year in a row celebrate the birth of Nikola Tesla called "Tesla Energy Independence Celebration" is held from the 7th Conference to 10 July in the U.S. city of Philadelphia. This metropolis of the federal state of Pennsylvania is the only city in the world that Tesla's birthday is declared the official holiday.

President of Tesla's Science Foundation of Philadelphia Nikola Loncar, a Serb from Tesla's Lika origin. Loncar, who grew up in Zemun, a more than six years used to visit the Tesla Museum in Belgrade and became fascinated by this genius. The interest is not diminished even today and with much effort Loncar manages to bring together some of the most Teslologs today, organizes lectures, exhibitions, dinners, and open tribune in honor of our genius.

Tesla's first day scientific conference had six speakers; scientists and professors, both Serbs and Americans.

Brian Yetzer

Abstract: “Tesla 3D Invention Modeling Educational Collaboration”

The Art Institute of Philadelphia’s Assistant Professor of Media Arts and Animation, Brian Yetzer, is engaging his students in a Nikola Tesla themed course project which spans multiple 3D modeling, 3D animation and graphic design course offerings for his students. Participating students developed three-dimensional renderings of several Nikola Tesla inventions which will be showcased as part of our educational collaboration and a featured exhibition at the Tesla Energy Independence Celebration 2010 and 2011 events. Brian will speak about the production process and the graphical design aspects encountered in this educational collaboration.

Bio: Brian Yetzer is an Assistant Professor of Media Arts and Animation at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. He is also the Principle artist and owner of YETZERstudio, Inc. He has been actively involved in teaching his students graphic design, including overseeing a number of advanced student projects involving 3D modeling and animations of Tesla’s inventions.

He says that the real three-dimensional printing comes from something created of nothing.. "In fact, you can create three-dimensional objects made from flour, peanut butter or whatever is imagined," says Brian. He enthusiastically believes that the three-dimensional is printing of the future. "Today the problem is the price of these printers because they are expensive and more than $ 20,000, not to mention more consumables. Despite the tremendous technology still need to be creative to create something in 3D printing. Subject has to be created in digital file.. Soon we will be able to print cooking utensils, auto parts, furniture and who knows what else. "

Jeff Behary –

Abstract:

Mr. Behary  presented two lectures with working Tesla coil demonstrations:

“Pancake Tesla Coils” –the historical perspectives, commercial applications, and strange electrical discharges produced with Tesla pancake coil apparati.

“History of Tesla coils in the medical field” – legitimate Tesla coil usage in X-rays, therapeutics, surgical usage.  A lot of obscure and never-published before information will be presented.

Bio. Jeff Behary runs the Turn of the Century Electrotherapy Museum at http://www.electrotherapymuseum.com

The following is paraphrased from his site:

The Turn Of The Century Electrotherapy Museum" is the result of over a decade of research.  It's goal is to provide the visitor with a wealth of unusual trivia concerning devices long ago forgotten. They are located in the Historic Northwood section of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Jeff is an avid experimenter in Tesla technologies.  A historian of early electrical pioneers & devices, he is trying his best to preserve history that's been forgotten.  While not a conspiracy theorist, nor a promoter of alternative medicine, he is equally not someone who says that all the machines are quackery and we know everything there is to know about electricity.
He likes to recreate things that are forgotten and relive the experiences of inventors long gone.  It's always fun, exciting, and informative.

His site is the result of a decade of research on forgotten patents. "My goal is to provide website visitors with an unusual, long-forgotten patents. Tesla was a strange genius, and we should be ashamed that we neglected the most of his patents, and thus are off countless opportunities for advancement of technology, medicine and many ideas. "This young visionary points out that it is always exciting and very informative re-create a long-forgotten experience and patents.

Bob Buus

Abstract:  “The Forefathers of Radio”

Who invented radio?  It turns out that it is the result of several incremental discoveries made by many people over a 150 year time interval.  This is a review of the contributions of these forefathers of radio starting with Ben Franklin and continuing until the beginning of the 20th century.  Most of these discoveries sprung from insights provided by earlier experimenters so there is a sequential thread of logic as the field of electro-technology evolved.  Many of these forefathers are honored today by having an electrical unit named after them (Volt, Ampere, Ohm, Oersted, Farad, Henry, Maxwell, Hertz, Tesla, etc.).

Bio:  Bob Buus became interested in electronics as a child.  He obtained his amateur radio license in 1953, upgrading to Extra Class in 1955 and presently holds the amateur call W2OD.  He obtained his First Class Radiotelephone and Second Class Radiotelegraph licenses in 1954 while still in high school and went on to college earning a BSEE from the University of North Dakota in 1959 followed by an MEE from New York University in 1961.  Bob joined the technical staff of Bell Labs in 1959 and worked on submarine cable systems, telemetry systems, and early personal computers.  He holds two patents.  He retired from Bell Labs in 1989 as head of the business terminals development department.  Other than a little consulting work, Bob spends most of his retirement playing with radios and tinkering with electronics.

Bus Bob (Bob Buus) is a fan of radio. Bob explains that the origin of the radio connected to the work of many people over 150 years. "What is Marconi argued that the same thing, Tesla knew years ago, when Marconi was not even able to imagine such a thing. Much injustice has been done to him! Today we can safely say that the radio would not be without Tesla. His misfortune was that he was tricked in dirty ways and his patents were not published in his name. "

"There are many doctors who claimed to be able to use electricity in the treatment of osteoporosis and cancer. However, the United States would shut down this investigation destroying evidence and patents. Today, some of them were partly published in Europe and Asia. "

Dr. Michael Pravica  (keynote speaker)

Abstract: “Tesla's final victories - after death”

Nikola Tesla was one of the world's greatest inventors who inaugurated the 20th Century and from whose tireless and enormous sacrifices we continue to benefit.  Despite the efforts of many individuals (and the corporations they founded) to suppress his discoveries, steal his ideas, prevent the widespread utilization of the technology he developed, and deny his true place in history, he has ultimately succeeded, even after death, in replacing inferior technology with his far superior inventions and the public is becoming evermore acquainted with this great Serbian-American genius and genuine humanist.  In this talk, we will give but a few examples of Tesla's inventions and ideas (radio, wireless energy, bladeless turbines, electrotherapy, and fluorescent lighting) that have been steadily gaining popularity around the world.

Bio: Michael Pravica is an associate professor of experimental physics at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and member of the High Pressure Science and Engineering Center (HiPSEC) located there.  His work entails the study of matter under extreme conditions of pressure, temperature, and ionizing radiation. A social activist and a lifelong Tesla enthusiast, he frequently comments on the broad implications of Tesla's far reaching work (and science in general) in the media.   Michael received his B.Sc. in physics and applied mathematics from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and his A.M. and Ph.D. degrees from Harvard University. . He explains how many individuals and companies established to minimize the Tesla's discoveries, had stolen his ideas and prevent the spread and progression of Tesla's technology around the world were unsuccessful in attempt to destroy the biggest world's geniuses. "It is important to realize that Tesla is alive today, trough heritage he left behind. Many victories Tesla won only after his death, and some should just come to pass. "

As our traditional dictum say, "From your mouth to God's ears," we will be the first to awaken consciousness in Serbia and nationwide about Tesla's importance. This way we will be able to collaborate with the Tesla enthusiasts and fans worldwide. Tesla's first day of the conference was the most about Teslologs approach into the future, and their attempts to get closer to Tesla's mind. How many uncompleted ideas and visions Tesla had, and how many inovations were stolen or burnt in the laboratory, probably will never be known, but there is one thing we know for sure - Tesla was and always will remain a miracle!
